Business Studies

Business Studies is introduced as an option in Years 10 and 11. Business is all around all of us and students will eventually work in a business environment. The courses offered combine favourably with all other subjects and make a significant contribution to helping students in chosen career pathways. The two courses offered are:

• GCSE Business Studies and 
• BTEC First in Business

GCSE Business Studies is most suitable for students wishing to follow a more ‘traditional’ academic route. BTEC First Business is a double, vocational option, suitable for students wishing to follow a work-related learning qualification suitable for a range of industry sectors.

Business Studies in the 6th form is an area of strength at The Regis School. Two courses are offered:

• A Level Business Studies
• BTEC National Business at a Level 2.
• There are plans to introduce BTEC Level 3 in September 2011.

Business Studies is currently taught in 2 rooms.  We are fully equipped with 64 netbooks for students to work on. Business Studies offers many extra-curricular opportunities. Examples range from trips to revision conferences in the 6th form to a Marketing seminar at Thorpe Park in Year 10. Coursework enhancement is provided both after school and at weekends and holidays.  This is in addition to the Young Enterprise and competitors in the Arun Enterprise Challenge.  Both teams have been extremely successful.
