This is an exciting and varied course, based on the vocational area of Health and Social Care. If you have a lively and enquiring mind and are thinking of working in care, health, social services or teaching, or consider yourself to be a “people person” this would be a useful area of study.


BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care

Level 2

One year duration

Year 12

Coursework only, no exams

Equivalent to 4x GCSE’s at grade C or above

6 units of work studied, which include:

Communication and individual rights

Human body

Human development

Diet and health

Creative therapy


BTEC National Certificate in Health and Social Care  

Level 3

Two years duration

Years 12 and 13

Coursework only, no exams

Work experience

Equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels


12 units of work are studied, which include:

Effective communication

Equality and diversity

Health and safety

Anatomy and physiology

Growth and development

Sociology

Psychology

Nutrition

Complementary therapy

Health and social care

Future Paths include - Primary School Teaching, Childhood Studies, Social Work, Nursing, Careers in Care, Social Work, Primary Teaching, Public Services and many more.
