Facilities
Our new school building has outstanding facilities read about them below.
As well as being a secure school with controlled access & exit points, the new building has over 400 rooms all of which are specially designed to ensure they meet the needs of the students. Each room provides the ideal environment for learning, ensuring that every room has a light & airy space, with appropriate heating & ventilation.
The building has an excellent design ensuring sure that moving around the school is easy & finding your way to classroom is straightforward (even for our younger students). Whilst there is large teaching spaces there are sufficient areas for ‘informal’ non-teaching time within & outside the building.
Apart from every classroom having the latest ‘Interactive White Board’ & ‘wireless free’ technology, ability for every child to have access to a computer, sufficient space to enable excellent teaching, there are specialist rooms to ensure specialist learning including:
Lecture Theatre – How many other schools can boost a lecture theatre with bleacher (staggered) seating for 150 students. The theatre has a high definition projector that projects onto a three metre by three metre screen with fantastic sound quality. Click here to see images of the Lecture Theatre.
Library – as you walk into our school this is the focal point in one of our two atria, our Library is equipped with a comprehensive array of literature, as well as a computer suite & an extensive learning resource centre. This is truly a learning environment. Click here to see images of the library
Main Hall – as well as seating for over 300, this will have the latest High Definition projection on a 3 metre by 4 metre screen. Also the hall has a performance space (including a large stage, excellent lighting & sound quality) that can be used for high quality production. Click here to see images of the Main Hall.
Gym – This is a purpose built gymnasium that is designed for non-ball sports such as trampolining, gymnastics, health & well-being, as well as many other activities. This also has extensive changing facilities within the area. Click here to see images of the Gym.
MYO Fitness Suite – This excellent facility enables our students to learn about their bodies (both theoretically & practically), we will be able to ensure that all students have access to the latest health & fitness equipment including cardio-vascular machines such as treadmills, rowing machines, bikes & fitness testing apparatus like ‘Douglas bags’, VO2 max analysis, peak flow, heart monitoring.
Construction Hall - This large open indoor space is purposely built to enable children to learn about skills required in building, such as brick laying, plastering, tiling, etc. The facilities are also very well equipped to enable every student to fully participate & engage with this practical subject. The tutors are all qualified & experienced in delivering these subjects
ICT Suites – Each department has their own designated ICT Suite as well as the ability to bring a mobile computer suite to any classroom. The Information Technology department has four rooms, each of which has the latest computers station computers. Click here to see images of the ICT Suites..
 Classrooms - Each classroom is well equipped for students.
Science Laboratory/Rooms – This is something special, we have eleven classrooms which have the ‘state-of-the-art’ reaction hubs, these are clever tables that enable the services (such as water, power & gas) to be accessible to a class from the edges of the room. This enables the room to be able to be used as a normal classroom or a science laboratory – we will be one of the first schools in the country to be able to offer this. Music – Having two large classrooms, four practice, two ensemble rooms, & a recording studio this provides for excellent performance. It is supported by Apple Mac computers to ensure our students use the same software that Industry uses. It will really bring out the best in our students.
Drama, Dance & Performing Arts – many people would think we are a ‘Performing Arts College’ when we explain what facilities we have, it includes two drama studios that are equipped for high level performance in regards to lighting, sound & high definition projection equipment, two large air conditioned dance studios with sprung floors, mirrors & excellent sound quality. Main Hall with a large stage, theatre lighting & seating for over 300 spectators. This also includes its own lighting & sound room (that will be used by the students).
Product Design – Three Design Technology rooms (of which one is double sized), electronics & specialist computer suite – including the latest ‘solid works’ software. Media Suite Rooms – these two rooms are equipped with Apple Mac computers & the latest Media software that is used in Industry. Click here to see images of the Media Suites.
Special Educational Needs (SEN) area – This is a designated area within the school that is a specific designed for children that may need additional support, this area is highly resourced with the latest equipment in regards to physical requirements ( hygiene & therapy rooms, adapted chairs & tables, etc) & Information Technology (specialist software programmes, appropriate keyboards & visual display equipment, etc).
Designated Sixth Form – We attract many students as we respect the needs of Year 12 & 13 students (from both our school & beyond). The facilities include a social area (with a ‘Costa’ coffee Cafe), an extensive study area, 150 seat lecture theatre, teaching rooms within each specific department, seminar rooms & high quality computer facilities.
 Catering facilities – We have a purpose built cafe area on the ground floor that is designed around fast service that provides everything the children require from traditional main meals to hand held snacks (such as panini’s, baguettes, sandwiches, etc) all of which are in line with our ‘healthy schools’ status. Art rooms – We boast the most comprehensive art studio of any school, it can hold up to 90 students in a ‘warehouse’ type of studio, this is in addition to the specialist ‘art library & technology area’, other art rooms & third floor balcony that has sea & county views over Sussex (children have access to use this fantastic outdoor learning space).
Dark room & Kiln – These areas are specialist to specific departments, they are fantastic facilities that our students have access to. In the ‘new’ school we have ensured that some of the traditional skills have been retained to make sure our students have a complete education.
Whole building – the whole building is supported by a computer network that is better than many banks, it will be ‘state-of-the-art’ with quickest download times than any other school; the school & surrounding campus will be ‘wireless free’ & the computers will be the fastest, most reliable & ‘future proof’ that they could be!
This is more than a building for the future! It’s a school for the future!
