Mrs Wiles is head of Everest House

What an amazing start to a new year! The school is buzzing with a brilliant vibe and I am really excited to have joined The Regis School and be part of this new experience.

I believe that we have set the tone for Everest and that students realise the high standards that students need to achieve. It is expected that the students will support and encourage each other to do better within the school, and therefore their House.

I feel really strongly that students need to know what they belong to and therefore they have been given a crash course in Everest in the form of "Who wants to be a Millionaire".

Students have been busy collecting house points and I have been working with our house leaders on how to recognize the achievement of individuals and tutor groups. The house leaders are also working with tutor groups to identify a charity for our house.

So a really busy time for the students of Everest as they strive to "Be the Best".

Everest students have made a great start to the year already and it has been really interesting, hearing all of our young people’s hopes and aspirations for 2011. Some big plans!

Our Olympic challenge has been completed.  Students were asked to redesign the Arena Sports Centre for creative use to involve the community. We had some brilliant ideas including a circus, Eden project and a paintballing experience, to name but a few.

I had a really tough job on deciding who the winner from the House should be. The winning entry came from P10 who had the brilliant idea of having an animal rescue centre. They had spent a lot of time on the model and thought of every detail in regards to this project. Well done to all students who took part.

Before Christmas we had a non–school uniform and all students were asked to donate £1 to give to a charity our House decided to raise the money for Home Start.

Through 2011 our House Charity will be Cancer Research and our House Leaders will be working to find fundraising activities to raise as much money as we can!!!
