Home Faculties Physical Education

The mission of The Regis School Physical Education Department is to empower all students, as independent learners, to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity within a competitive and recreational environment.

The Physical Education Faculty encompasses PE and Outdoor Education

In PE you will study sports that you will probably already be familiar with and have the great opportunity to participate in many more such as climbing and triathlon.

Outdoor Education allows students to explore many different subjects such a water sports, leadership and outdoor activities.

As a sports college we work closely with a family of schools to raise standards in physical education and sport for all their learners across the ability range, leading to whole school improvement. Sports Colleges will extend links between families of schools, sports bodies and communities by:

  • sharing resources
  • developing and spreading good practice
  • helping to provide a structure through which young people can progress to careers in sport and PE.

The Physical education department provides an extensive out of hours learning programme to offer a wide range of activities that reinforce and develop learning that takes place in lessons.

Sports College Academy

New for September 2010 was the introduction of the Sports College “Academy” which includes all PE, Sport and Outdoor Education qualifications for students in Years 10 and 11.  The Sports College Academy is unique to The Regis School. Students can become a full time member of the Sports College Academy specialising in sport and physical education. Or a part time member of the Academy studying sport and physical education alongside other subject areas depending on which pathway or combination of pathways you wish to pursue.

The Sports College Academy enables our 6th Form students to have a personalised route way through their studying at the school as well as specialise in an ever growing industry in society.

Out of Hours Learning

Pupils are offered a wide range of activities to take part in through our extra curricular programme. Our clubs at The Regis School aim to progress the learning that takes place in lessons as well as give pupils the opportunity to increase depth of knowledge that can be gained to improve performances within a competitive environment.

After school activities run from Monday to Friday every week. Clubs begin at 3pm and usually finish at around 4.15pm, most of the clubs and activities start and finish in the Arena.

All the clubs welcome anybody who wishes to attend!

The activities that are offered change throughout the year and range from Football, Netball and Basketball to Volleyball, Badminton and Aikido as well as branching from Dance, Gymnastics and Trampolining to Rock Climbing, Rugby and many more.
