Sociology
Students have the option to study Sociology at GCSE and A level. Sociology is the study of society. Students learn how human societies develop and investigate how different theoretical approaches try to explain social problems. Debate and discussion are at the heart of learning in sociology. Students develop analytical skills that enable them to evaluate different perspectives and think critically about social issues.
In the sixth form we offer AS and A2 courses. Students study the role of the Family the Education System, the Mass Media and Crime & Deviance. Sociological theory and method runs as a central theme through each topic.
