Acropolis
Mrs Absalom is Head of Acropolis House
Hello, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mrs Absalom and I have worked at The Regis School since September 2007 as a Pastoral Manager and I now have the new, and very exciting role of Head of House for Acropolis.
I am a parent of three boys in various stages of their schooling, and because of this I understand the importance for us, as parents, to ensure our children are being successful and enjoying school. As a Head of House it is important to me to do all I can to celebrate the successes of our students and to always encourage them to believe in themselves. One of the ways this can be achieved is by building good home school relationships and I would encourage you to contact either myself or your child's tutors to discuss any concerns you may have.
I am in a very fortunate position to see, on a daily basis, either by visiting mentoring time or just having a quick chat to our students, how excited the young people are about vertical tutoring and being in Houses. I have seen, or rather heard, one of my tutors sharing his favourite children‟s book with his tutor group and even the older students were intrigued to hear about "Gruffalo Crumble.‟
I could go on forever singing the praises of our amazing new school, vertical tutoring and the House system but I think these quotes from various students in Acropolis from, across the age groups, describe the sense of positivity and excitement best.
Olympic Challenge
What a busy and exciting term Acropolis have had! We have all been working really hard on the Olympic challenges. The second Olympic challenge was to invent something that would help sports men and women do better in their chosen sport. We had some really creative and inventive ideas, springs for the soles of shoes, aero dynamic helmets for cycling and spray on clothing for divers and swimmers. The winning entry to represent us in the overall school competition was called Heliumz that could be taken orally to assist competitors to say afloat for up to 5 minutes, great for all water sport. Congratulations to Mrs Baker and the students of B13 for making it through to the final.
Big Thank you!
A big thank you to the students in Acropolis, we raised £160.00 for non uniform day on the last day of term. Our intention is to continue to raise money throughout the year by doing various activities. The next big event will be our Acropolis Fun Run, our hope is that this will become an annual event. Our chosen charity for this year is Chesnut Tree House, Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex.
Acropolis Christmas
I’d like to say thank you to all Acropolis House Leaders and Senior House leaders for running the mentoring session where each student signed an individual Christmas card for the members of their tutors group, everyone left school with a Christmas card personally signed by their peers filled with positive affirmations.
