RE

Over the course of your time at The Regis School you will find out about all the major world’s religions. You will find out why people hold certain beliefs and why others might take a different view. You will study RE from year seven to year eleven and have the opportunity to take it at GCSE and A level.

You will learn using the special experiential active methods which were developed at The Regis School and are now used by many schools all over the UK. Most of our RE work is published in teacher resource files and new ideas appear from time to time in “RE Today”. We are always developing new ways to make RE interesting and relevant.

Most of the time you will not sit at desks but work in a circle where you will find that religion comes alive through music. artefacts and role play. During the activities, circle work and discussions you will become more confident at speaking and you will learn to better understand others and yourself. The active literacy techniques we use to help you prepare your essays for homework will help you write more easily and in greater depth. These together with our experiential, active lessons and our special revision techniques have helped our pupils get great exam results.

Lots of visiting teachers come to The Regis School to see the exciting way we teach RE. You may have the opportunity to demonstrate your work to these teachers as well as taking part in the training courses we run after school.

“RE at The Regis School is unlike any other subject” Roy Year 11.

”In other lessons I forget what I learned unless I go over it again later, but because this is an experience it becomes a part of your life. ” Joe Year 11.
